Eli Farinango

Eli Farinango (Kichwa) is an artist and visual storyteller, born in Kichwa territory (Quito, Ecuador) and raised in Turtle Island (Canada). Through her practice she explores the vastness and beauty of the healing journey while making intentional space to reclaim ancestral memory through the image. Her body of work is deeply tied to documenting the experiences of her family and the Kichwa community in the diaspora.

She is a graduate of the University of Toronto, the International Center of Photography, and the recipient of the Photographers Without Borders & Sony Scholarship, Jan Mulder scholarship (ICP), and a 2021 Women Photograph Grantee. She is part of the Kichwa Hatari Collective, Indigenous Photograph, Women Photograph, and the 400 Years Project.
